You can use Stable Diffusion locally to create some really incredible images with AI. In this post I’ll show you how to create some high resolution images of geodes that you can use not only as phone wallpapers but even higher resolution 4k desktop wallpapers or physical art prints.

Software Required
In this tutorial I’ll be using the Automatic 1111 UI for Stable Diffusion to create these images. If you are comfortable with other software you can of course use that instead.
System Requirements
You’ll need a computer and GPU with at least 8GB VRAM to generate these images comfortably with the SDXL Stable Diffusion model that we’ll be using.
SDXL Model Information
I’m going to be using an excellent SDXL model called Boltningv1.0 by Georgebanjog on Civitai. This model is a merge with SDXL lightning which makes it incredibly fast, and it can produce some very realistic looking images.
You can use any realistic SDXL model for this tutorial, but your results will be a little different than what you see from mine.
Automatic 1111 Geode Images
If you don’t already have Auto 1111 installed on your computer, you can find the instructions to install it at: https://github.com/AUTOMATIC1111/stable-diffusion-webui
Step 1: Downloading The Models
Go to https://civitai.com/models/413466?modelVersionId=477888 and download the SDXL checkpoint, along with the recommended VAE.
The Boltning SDXL model will need to be placed into your “webui\models\Stable-diffusion” folder.
The VAE will go into your VAE folder which is located at: “webui\models\VAE” from your Auto 1111 base folder.
Step 2: Load Auto 1111 and Choose Models
Run Automatic 1111 by clicking on the “run.bat” file if you downloaded the portable version of Auto 1111, or by clicking the “webui-user.bat” file if you installed the regular version for Windows.
Inside Auto 1111 you will want to make a little tweak to the UI so you can easily select a VAE file to use with your checkpoint model.
Click the “Settings” tab and on the left hand menu select “User Interface”.
Next, click on the dropdown box under the Quick settings list and select “sd_vae”
Apply the settings using the button above and then click the “Reload UI” button to the right of that.
Now you’ll be able to select a custom VAE to use with your checkpoint model.
Step 3: Generate The Images In TXT2IMG
Now head back over to the text2img tab and it is time to get creating some images!
The images below were all created using the prompts listed below each image. You can copy the exact prompts and plug them into Auto1111 to get a similar image or put whatever kind of twist you’d like onto the prompt and see what happens!

A Word On Using These Images
If you use the images above for personal use, I’d love a link back for credit. Commercial use is not permitted with the images above.
However..
When you make these images on your own, you own the rights to them and you can even sell them if you’d like to. I did another post on this blog that goes into that topic in more detail here.
